The placemat is a complementary component at the dining table. The placemat color is usually a flower or plain. But if the placemat was made from batik, of course is very unique, right? And if the placemat can removed, washed and mounted again when dirty, certainly more interesting. Well, how do I make it? On this opportunity, "Interior Design 911" explains how to make a unique placemat from Batik fabrics. Just follow the tips from "Interior Design 911" below.
Materials and tools used:
1. Plastic boards or second-hand placemat.
2. Batik fabrics
3. Yarn.
4. Scissors.
5. Cutter.
6. Ruler.
1. Cut the plastic board with size 32 x 35 cm using a cutter. If you are using a secondhand placemat, you can directly use it.
2. Measure the batik fabrics following the pattern of plastic board or placemat. Extend at all sides of the batik fabrics along 10 cm. Cut with a scissors.
3. Fold edge of fabric as wide as 2 cm to the side of the fabric surface. These folds serves to enter the rope. Sew the folds using a sewing machine or hand sewing. Do not forget to prepare the space to place the rope.
4. Cut the batik fabrics with size of 2 x 150 cm with using scissors. Fold in half, then sew and reverse the stitches, so that become a rope. Next, insert this rope into the folds of cloth that has been created in the step 3 earlier.
5. Insert the plastic board or placemat earlier in batik cloth stitching results. Pull the string, and make a knot. See, your batik placemat look so beautiful.
